“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” Heb4:16
A certain man has two sons. He wanted to go on a journey. He called the younger son and said to him. “My son while I am away, keep the lawn, clear the grass and make the environment look attractive.” The young one replied “I will do as you have said sir.”
The father turned to the elder brother and said, “my son, the beginning of my strength, you have access to my wealth, you have access to the money in the bank, take good care of your brother. Provide for him all he may be needed to carry out the assignment. You are the eyes when I am away. You are my hands, when I am not available. Be in charge.
The father gathered few luggages put them inside the car, start the engine and zoom off. He did not tell them when he would be coming back home. Immediately the father left, the younger one swift to work. He started picking the leaves and papers littered all over the lawn. He told his elder brother of what he would be needed to clear the lawn and clear the grass but his brother turned a deaf ear to his request.
Once his elder brother saw their father went away, he called his friends to meet him at his father’s house, he told them his father was away and he wouldn’t returned in a couple of days, “Father didn’t even tell us when he would be coming back” said to his friend. His friends arrive in a porch car. All of them were brought by one car.
The younger brother asked again what he needs to work on the lawn and make the environment clean. The elder brother replied to him, “Don’t worry yourself daddy will not come back on time I will get you the instrument later, let me maximize this opportunity to enjoy myself with my friends”.
He took one of the best daddy’s car pick few of his friends into the car while others joined the other car. They all left with two cars and hit the town for enjoyment, leaving his brother at home working.
The younger brother continues working with his hands on the lawn. He plucked the grass with bare hands. At some point he wounded himself, bleeding but no one to rescue or attend to him.
Meanwhile, before the father left the house, he had position solar powered surveillance cameras around the house and connected to his mobile telephone set so he can be previewing what is going on in the house anywhere he is, with the help of internet.
After a while, the younger brother could not continue with the work because he was weak, no food, no instruments and no encouragement; yet he did not leave the lawn. He slept on the lawn with his wounded hand. And the father was watching all that was going on at home.
The father could no longer endure seeing his son suffering and sleeping on the lawn under the cold weather. He quickly returned home. He met the younger son lying down helplessly on the lawn. He carried him, took care of him, picked few luggages and left the house.
The elder brother returned from the adventure of life enjoyment. He was so drunk that he could not take notice of the state of the house or remember his younger brother. He went straight into his room being under the influence of alcohol, hit the bed and slept off.
When he woke up, he discovered that many items were no more in the house. He looked for his brother but he couldn’t find him. He was afraid and thought probably someone broke into the house and took his brother away.
While wondering what could have happened, he saw a note on the table that read thus “My son, you are my first born, the beginning of my strength. I gave you access to all my wealth. I expected you to be a good example of dedication and commitment to my instruction. But you are unstable like water. You are not faithful to your brother neither to me. I have come and take your brother to our new house, and he is now the heir apparel to my wealth. Keep enjoying yourself with this little house and few amenities. Your brother is much better as a son than unfaithful first born.
Friend! Are you an unfaithful first born or a committed younger brother? God gave you access to wealth, he gave you access to people, he gave you access to occupy good position in the community. He expects you to support those around you. But all you do is to turn a deaf hear to their needs and crying.
The same God that called someone into the ministry of the WORD is the same God that gives opportunity for other to access money so they can support each other. We are all going to receive rewards for how we manage the assignment and resources God gave to us.
Always support others. Keep helping those around you until they too are strong enough to help others. Thank you and God’s speed.
Welcome! It’s your first time on this post, and we are glad to have you.
